Neat participated in a very enriching virtual meeting on innovative residential technology

Neat has been part of the webinar entitled Innovative technology for residential care centres organized by Infogeriatría on June 22.

The purpose of this meeting was focused on analyzing and debating the need for technological investment in the post-covid scenario, the need for strategic alliances and integrable and interoperable technologies that allow providing a comprehensive care to residents.

In this forum, in addition to Neat, Iseco and everis were present. Three companies that have joined forces and are complementary in the market with the aim of presenting solutions that are integrated with each other in order to meet the real needs of the centres.

Gonzalo Castellanos, commercial director of Neat for southern Europe and America, focused his presentation on the relevance of innovation in residential centres, highlighting that “innovation is an investment in the future” and explaining that “innovative technologies are the tools to be more competitive, improve the quality of what each company contributes to society, optimize resources and reduce costs ”.

For his part, Vicente Collado, director of the HealthCare area at ISECO, spoke about the digitalization of residential care centres and showed that “technology is capable of giving us security, improving comfort and increasing communications, something that we have been missing in residential care centres during the toughest months of the pandemic”.

Collado also stressed that the most important reason for digitalizing a care centre is “to gain time to improve the quality of care.” A care professional “should not waste time on trivial things like writing down the number of a room on a piece of paper or going to the nursing station to transcribe a piece of paper, because this is already done by a system by itself; that time saved can be used to hold the hand of an older man, help him to have a teleconference with his son or to talk with him for a while…”.

Antonio García Parada, Manager Health & Social Care at everis, presented the third talk on social convergence. Parada explained that after the pandemic, different aspects of the healthcare field will be accelerated, such as the person-cantered care model and social and healthcare convergence. In this regard, Parada insisted that social care and health care “are going to be integrated, and not only coordinated, to provide adequate care for each resident.”

On this matter, Castellanos stated that “one of the main objectives of integrating solutions is to offer residents and care professionals a 360-degree care.”

Neat participated in the Silver Economy Forum: Opportunities in Rural Areas and the Demographic Challenge

The Silver Economy is a concept that includes all those economic activities, products and services aimed at satisfying the needs of those over 50 years of age, and brings together sectors as diverse as health, banking, automotive, energy, housing, telecommunications, leisure, and tourism, among others.

Neat was part of the Silver Economy online forum organized by the Malaga Provincial Council and focused on learning about the possibilities offered by the Silver Economy approach as a formula for fixing and attracting the population and driving the development of unpopulated rural areas in the province of Málaga (Andalusia, Spain).

The event was divided into three sessions that took place from March 23 to 26. Gonzalo Castellanos, South Europe & Americas – Regional Sales Manager, participated in the March 25 session entitled “Adapted technology at the service of the care of the elderly: Telemedicine, telecare, monitoring, follow-up and virtual therapies.

Castellanos highlighted that “Social services contribute greatly to the ability of older people to continue living in their places of origin and to the creation of wealth and employment by attracting the workforce and professionals to rural settings.”

Also, Castellanos explained that digitalization “is so necessary in urban settings, as in rural settings, since social services are also essential in emptied Spain.” Likewise, he highlighted the importance of technology “as an ally in the sustainability of social services.”

It should be noted that the forum was attended by the general secretary for the Demographic Challenge of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the Government of Spain, the president of the Malaga provincial council, the Deputy Delegate for the Elderly, Third Sector, and International Cooperation of the Malaga Provincial Council, among other important agents of the public and private sector.

All sessions were carried out with the intervention of an expert on the subject and one or more people who presented an example of good practice of a project or initiative related to the subject.

Neat Sweden took on the challenge of being more physically active and ranked 14th out of 298 organizations

Team spirit and a more active lifestyle

NEAT Sweden has together with 297 other organizations during the pandemic participated in an activity challenge to encourage all employees to work out and be more physical active in general. 

The challenge was to take more than 10,000 steps per day in average from 24 September – 5 November (43 days). Also, other activities were counted and converted into steps. 17 employees accepted the challenge and 13 finished with more than 10.000 steps per day. 

The average of the 17 employees was 16,305 steps/day which put them on 14th position of the 298 organizations! 5 of the 13 employees that finished were randomly selected and did receive a gift voucher.

“I think, when we during the pandemic work from home, that the risk is even higher that we get stuck into a sedentary lifestyle. By participating in the challenge, we tried to change this in NEAT in a way that also could give us a better team spirit. I am really impressed by the result and I honestly didn’t know how competitive and tireless co-workers we have. But I am most delighted by the fact that the challenge did change the habits of several persons to a more active lifestyle. I hope this will be persistent also after the challenge,” Ulrik Lundberg, Head of R&D at Neat, noted.

Neat participated in a virtual seminar where it endorsed its commitment to people’s health and safety

In order to expose how Neat technology has contributed to the management of the health crisis caused by COVID-19 in a professional and efficient way, Neat was present at the webinar Assistive technology solutions against COVID-19.

During the webinar, a detailed account was made of the solutions that since the beginning of the pandemic have helped telecare service providers and care professionals in residences and hospitals to provide higher quality care to patients, users and residents preventing the spread of the coronavirus and protecting the safety and health of people at all times, mainly the elderly, who belong to the most vulnerable sector of the population.

Gonzalo Castellanos, commercial director for southern Europe and America at Neat, pointed out that when the health crisis began, Neat was clear that the first step that had to be taken consisted of “ensuring the continuity of production, for this, shifts were adapted and security measures were taken to the extreme, which made it possible to guarantee the supply of solutions during the toughest months of the pandemic ”.

Having achieved this goal, Neat focused on installing its wireless assistive solution in record time. “This technology was deployed in more than 20 field hospitals mainly in Italy and Spain. Hotels were also equipped and technology was installed in isolation rooms as well”, Castellanos stressed.

For her part, Sonia Zapico Díaz, Asispa’s telecare director, took part in the webinar recognizing that “technology is always a fantastic ally to provide well-being” and that “the future of telecare services goes through digitalization”. In its commitment to innovation, Zapico said that they already have more than 7,000 digital terminals installed, which “makes them a benchmark within the social health field in connected care.”

Zapico also emphasised the reasons why telecare has become more relevant during the pandemic: “the ability to accompany and the possibility of immediate care for the elderly without face-to-face contact.”

David Miró i Sumarroca, general director of Miray Consulting, also participated in the webinar presenting the success story of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, in Catalonia, where a modular expansion of the centre has been carried out, which has been equipped with the Neat wireless nurse call system. Miró explained that the objective of this project was “to minimize the risk of contagion by making the workflow as efficient as possible and the patients being treated in the shortest time possible” and for this it was necessary to comply with the technology requirements of the expansion: “reliability and effectiveness”. He also highlighted the satisfaction of the healthcare staff with “an easy-to-use and install solution.”

The conclusions of the event were exposed by José Carlos Escamilla, director of business development at Neat, who made it clear that “The future of healthcare services cannot be conceived without connected systems.”

The webinar was held on November 17 and more than 100 professionals from the social and healthcare sector were connected live. It was organized by InfoEdita and its manager, José Henríquez Navarro, presented the speakers and briefly described the program of the event.

Neat deploys its assistive technology at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in Catalonia to support the management of the pandemic

Installation of solutions in record time

With the aim of providing better care to semi-critical patients with coronavirus disease and minimizing the risk of infection for healthcare personnel, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital has carried out a modular expansion of the centre, which has been equipped with the Neat Wireless Nurse Call system so that healthcare professionals can organize workflow more efficiently and people receive higher quality care.

The expansion is made up of 2 floors with 4 wings each, where 216 people can be accommodated with independent cubicles for the treatment of infectious diseases such as COVID-19.

The technological project has been carried out by Miray Consulting, Neat distributor in Spain. In each wing, Miray Consulting has installed a wireless nurse call system consisting of pull and push buttons. In addition, the caregivers have been equipped with 32 alarm receivers.

The patient only has to pull the device or press a button to request assistance. Given that the receivers are portable, the professionals are fully mobile and can receive the patient’s call at any point in the healthcare facility where they are.

In this time of crisis, assembly of technology in hospitals and temporary health facilities has to be carried out quickly, without affecting the work pace of professionals. The start-up of this wireless solution at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital took place in less than a week to provide immediate service to the wings of the new building that demanded greater urgency before the summer, in anticipation of possible outbreaks of the pandemic.

Neat participated in a virtual meeting called “Digital technologies in nursing homes”

ADD Informática held a webinar in which it convened a group of specialists in the sector to discuss technology and digitalization in nursing homes. The purpose of the event was to join efforts to find residential technological solutions that improve the lives of older people.

The main presentation of the event was given by Robinson Cuadros, geriatrician and president of the Colombian Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. Cuadros is one of the leading representatives of geriatric medicine in Colombia and during his talk he showed how new technologies can improve and facilitate management in senior centres.

Also, as a special guest, was attended by Juan Rojas, a Neat client and director of the nursing home Calucé in Colombia, who shared his experience and the peculiar way of managing the nursing home he runs. This nursing home is a pioneer in caring for people respecting their previous personal environment, since this care centre allows residents, for example, to take their pets, furniture and any other belongings of sentimental value to the nursing home.

Likewise, Rojas insisted on the importance of investing in a technology not only aimed at the elderly, but also at the caregiver in order to reinforce both the quality of care and user satisfaction.

Roberto Tortorella, head of sales in Latin America at Neat, participated in the debate, making clear the differences between investment and spending on technology. “An investment has a return over time and an expense is a exchange of money for a service at a certain time,” Tortorella highlighted.

Furthermore, Tortorella commented that “before the investment was made in the construction improvements of the residential buildings, now, the investment is focused on technology since service providers have proven that it is the perfect ally in the care of older people, in addition to recognizing the essential role it has played in managing the COVID-19 pandemic. ”
