The World Day of Telecommunications and Information Society, better known by its acronym WTISD 2016, was held last May 17th. It was the 151th anniversary of the signature of the first International Telegraph Convention and the creation of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The theme chosen by the ITU this year to celebrate the WTISD 2016 is “Entrepreneurship in the ICT sector and its social impact” emphasizing the efforts made by this organization in helping young entrepreneurs in the ICT sector boosting innovative and practical solutions to advance the achievement of the objectives of sustainable development, with particular attention to SMEs in developing countries.
